Sarasota, Florida – Outbound 2016

Past Journey 2016 – Outbound – Sarasota, Florida

Our club visited the Sarasota Club and got a break from the winter weather in WNC. Phillip Price, the host ED and his committee planned a great exchange. The Sarasota Club members were delightful hosts and the weather was almost perfect after we experienced a couple of windy days.

Our Welcome Breakfast was held at Bob’s Train, which was a train that had been turned into a restaurant filled with circus memorabilia. This was a fun and exciting experience that prepared us for our visit to the John and Mable Ringling Museum. The museum included an extensive carved miniature circus, circus memorabilia and the mansion of John and Mable. During our exchange we observed manatees in the wild and visited Mote Marine. In our free time many of our folks were able to visit the beautiful Selby Gardens, where they were hosting an orchid show. The highlight of the exchange for many of us was the Circus Sarasota entitled “Red, White & BELLO”. It brought the child out in us with the many professional performers performing in a big top tent.

Many new friendships were made and we look forward to our opportunity to host them in the fall.
