Ft. Worth, Texas – May 13 – 19, 2025 – Inbound

The Eyes of Texas were upon us, May 13th – May 19th

More specifically, FF of Fort Worth, came to FFWNC in May.

Nancy Wood and Harriet Hilton had planned a stay that took into consideration the group’s issues with hiking and also the current conditions in Western North Carolina.  Nevertheless, we had a marvelous week that included The Biltmore House, Saluda and Flat Rock historic sites, Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI), Pisgah Inn and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Downtown Hendersonville was seen the first night briefly and some went back there on Sunday afternoon. Others scattered to wineries, the Folk Art Museum, and the NC Arboretum.  We left the last day free for home hosts and their guest deciding where to go and how much to do. This action follows FFI directives to visit more and have a bit more free time within itineraries to build friendships.

The widespread help from many club members as day hosts was a wonderful way to give home hosts a break and to involve more WNC members.  Our home hosted dinners were a huge hit and Fort Worth people said that they would copy that idea in their future inbound programs.   The final night’s catered dinner was provided by our club member and professional chef, Peter Cooper.  The farewell was also May’s General Meeting and WNC members who came out were treated to an exceptional meal as well as an opportunity to build peace through new friendships.  Special thanks to Peter for his wonderful meal.

Hosting is what FF is all about, and Harriett and Nancy are grateful for the May hands that contributed to this journey’s success.  Fort Worth is a well-traveled club and more than one member commented that being here was the best journey they had ever had.  Kuddos to all of us for the hospitality and friendship we extended!
